Litter is a permanent problem in our neighbourhood and despite it costing thousands to clear up, some people think it is still alright to throw there litter on the ground.

Our aim is to make these litter louts think twice about using Semilong Northampton streets as a litter bin and to reduce the amount of litter that our residents have to put up with.

Our aim is to help to reduce that figure by highlighting the publiscised crime in our neighbourhood.

We will also support the Semilong Neighbourhood Watch Scheme.

Appearance Is Everything

Semilong Northampton is a great place to live or work. Its location places it at the heart of Northampton, England. Close to the bus station, a main line train station, to leisure facilities and to town centre shopping and yet within easy travelling distances to most other towns and cities.

So with all these factors in its favour, why do the Government class Semilong Northampton as a deprived area & why do Police statistics constantly rate Semilong as a high crime zone?

Why Is Semilong A High Crime Zone?

SEMILONG.ORG believe that the appearance of our neighbourhood is the answer. It is not just important for aesthetic reasons but appearance also sets the scene for how some people behave.

For years, Semilong Northampton has suffered with litter, fly-tipping, poor roads and footpaths, and the greenscaping allowed to run wild, all with extremely little done to tackle it.

At the same time, crime seems to flourish here. It is no mere co-incidence. Study after study has concluded that the environment sets the scene for how some people behave. By allowing our neighbourhood to look like a tip, some people treat it as one and act accordingly.

 

 

We, as a community together, can make a difference.
