Litter is a permanent problem in our neighbourhood and despite it costing thousands to clear up, some people think it is still alright to throw there litter on the ground.

Our aim is to make these litter louts think twice about using Semilong Northampton streets as a litter bin and to reduce the amount of litter that our residents have to put up with.

Community Information

Semilong Northampton is a community that is changing. New events, new initiatives. All to improve our neighbourhood. Quite often than not, these improvements are behind the scenes, or go generally un-noticed. Here SEMILONG.ORG will try and change that.

Semilong Resident's Forum

The Semilong Residents Association, or Community Forum as they prefer to be called, works hard for all the residents and businesses in Semilong. We have included the minutes so that all residents can see how the Semilong Residents Forum is working on their behalf.

Noticeboards

It was at one forum meeting that SEMILONG.ORG brought up the topic of noticeboards for residents in the multi-occupancy buildings and around our community.

We believe that noticeboards enable residents to be better informed of what is happening in their community and increases a sense of belonging to the community.

Though at the meeting, the idea of noticeboards did not receive widespread support with belief being expressed that noticeboards are too costly and would be vandalised, we have since started to see noticeboards appear in our community. For example, outside our local Co-op store and at Miller's Meadow on St Andrew's Road amongst other places.

The Forum must be congratulated for this great idea to further improve our neighbourhood.

However, so far the multi-occupancy dwellings of Alliston Gardens, Semilong House, Adelaide House and Mill House are not included, perhaps the belief is that residents will vandalise them or simply that these residents do not need them. Come on Northampton Borough Council, act decently..
