What an incredible situation.. the new Environmental Enforcement Officers were launched amid an outcry of the whole Neighbourhood Warden being reorganised.
The Northampton Borough Council Cabinet Meeting was very well attended when they announced their intention and it was reported widely in the local newspaper, the Chronicle & Echo. Brilliant idea. We will actually have Officers to concentrate on Enforcing the laws that up to then had been given such a low priority.
Andy Langton, the Neighbourhood Warden who's job was so affected by the reorganisation, knew they were employed.
The One-Stop Shop at the Northampton Borough Council's Guildhall, who's task it is to advise members of the public regarding access to Council services did not know.
Human Resources at the Guildhall thought SEMILONG.ORG was mistaken saying "I see all the job vacancies, they all come across my desk and no-one has been employed as an Environmental Enforcement Officer. Are you sure it isn't Northamptonshire County Council who employ them? Perhaps they are contract staff, or perhaps they just haven't sorted out the vacancies yet. We will let you know."
Amazing to find that afterall they had been employed for several weeks without apparently even Northampton Borough Council Human Resources Department knowing about it.
Perhaps it is not such a high priority to have them afterall. They certainly have their work cut out for them.
SEMILONG.ORG contacted the new Environmental Enforcement Officers for Northampton. We advised them of the fly-tipping problem here in Semilong Northampton and wished them the greatest success in tackling it.
The Environmental Enforcement Officers are for a time concentrating on tackling the waste from commercial premises. Easy pickings perhaps.
Nevertheless, we will keep you updated as hopefully they will turn their attention to the fly-tipping that Semilong Northampton is continually blighted by.
